You do not need to have a referral to see a psychologist. You can attend on a full-fee paying basis.
You do need a referral to be eligible to receive psychological services partially funded under Medicare. You must be referred by your GP or in some instances by a psychiatrist or paediatrician. Your referring doctor will assess whether you have a mental health condition that is covered under the Medicare scheme.Private health rebates are also available depending on your cover.
We also see clients of WorkSafe, TAC, DVA, NDIS self-managed, Victims of Crime and other supported schemes.
It is important that we receive any referral information before your first appointment if you wish to receive a rebate.
This would include a referral letter from your GP or referring specialist and confirmation that they have prepared a Medicare Plan, if applicable.
The cost for a 50 minute consultation is $230.
Please speak to our Reception staff about the scheme that may be available to you and the rebate that applies to reduce your out of pocket cost.
